WHY IS APPLE CIDER VINEGAR SO HEALTHY?

Vinegar has been used as a preservative, condiment, and remedy since ancient times. Fortunately, it’s one of those traditional remedies that’s making a comeback. Apple cider vinegar is made naturally from apples (it’s important to ensure organic quality). Conventional apples are processed several times, which can result in a high pesticide load. The apples are first processed into juice, which then undergoes two different fermentation processes. The first fermentation process turns the juice into wine as yeast converts the sugar into alcohol. If the wine continues to ferment, vinegar is produced. The alcohol is converted to acetic acid by certain bacteria (fermentation), which gives rise to lactic acid bacteria.

It’s these different acids that make Apple Cider Vinegar so healthy. In particular, it’s the gut – or rather, the gut microbiome – that benefits from the different acids and bacteria, which have a probiotic effect and can ensure the balance of the gut flora.

Probiotics ensure that beneficial bacteria take hold and (potentially) harmful bacteria, viruses and even fungi are encouraged to retreat. This effect is desirable not only in the gut, but also in inflammatory skin conditions, for example. In addition to acids, Apple Cider Vinegar contains nutrients such as potassium and calcium, and has a slightly alkaline effect, which explains why it can also relieve disorders associated with hyperacidity. As a result, many people swear by apple cider vinegar for heartburn. Apple Cider Vinegar also has a regulating effect on blood sugar levels, which is why it can help fight cravings and, according to studies, can also improve therapeutic results in cases of type 2 diabetes.

CIDER VINEGAR CURE FOR THE INTESTINES: PROBIOTIC EFFECT

Apple Cider Vinegar has many beneficial properties for the intestines. The acetic acid it contains stimulates the production of saliva in the mouth, which is part of the digestive process and promotes activity in the stomach and intestines. The production of other digestive fluids is also stimulated, giving digestion a boost and helping to better assimilate even hard-to-digest foods. The unpleasant symptoms associated with hard-to-digest foods, such as bloating and heartburn, may be alleviated.

The probiotic effect of Apple Cider Vinegar is then felt in the gut, creating a pleasant environment for beneficial bacteria. The diversity of the microbiome can be increased and the intestinal lining strengthened. This has a knock-on effect on overall well-being, as 80% of immune cells are found in the gut, which also has a significant impact on allergies and the body’s overall inflammatory potential.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR CURE FOR CRAVINGS

Foods containing simple or short-chain carbohydrates often cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels drop just as quickly, it can lead to cravings and overeating. Studies have shown that vinegar can help to slow the rise in blood glucose levels, whether during a meal or on an empty stomach. As a result, cravings are naturally reduced. Apple vinegar is also considered a natural satiating agent, so the feeling of hunger takes longer to subside after consumption. Apple Cider Vinegar is therefore ideal for weight control.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR CURE FOR METABOLISM

Metabolism refers to all the processes involved in transforming or breaking down substances such as those found in food. Among other things, the various metabolic processes ensure that fats are broken down, transported, or metabolized. The primary purpose of these processes is to produce energy. When metabolic processes are slowed or imbalanced, it can lead to digestive disorders. This can happen when we eat foods that are difficult to digest, when we are inactive and our bowels are sluggish, or when we are generally undernourished and our stress levels are high. Apple Cider Vinegar is not a miracle cure, of course, but it can boost the metabolism and aid the body’s cleansing and detoxification processes, especially when taken in the morning on an empty stomach. It is especially effective when taken before the first meal, before the digestive system is called upon.

RECIPE TIP: APPLE CIDER VINEGAR CURE IN THE MORNING

Vinegar drinks have been used as medicinal beverages since ancient times. They’re better known as oxymel, and the base is usually honey, vinegar, and herbs. Of course, the honey can be omitted or substituted for a vegan version.

The easiest way to start the day is with a mixture of water and vinegar.

You will need :

  • 250 ml warm water
  • 1-2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • Sweetener of choice (maple syrup, honey)

Lukewarm water is easier for your intestines to digest. Apple Cider Vinegar’s stimulating effect on digestive juices provides optimal support for the entire digestive system.

Vinegar can damage tooth enamel, so we recommend drinking it through a glass straw and/or rinsing your mouth afterward.

USING APPLE CIDER VINEGAR EXTERNALLY

The probiotic properties of Apple Cider Vinegar are also very useful for skin and hair care. Apple Cider Vinegar can strengthen the skin’s acid mantle and thus the entire skin barrier. Whether used as a toner after cleansing, as an alternative to deodorant, or applied to itchy areas such as mosquito bites or irritated skin, Apple Cider Vinegar can have a soothing effect without damaging the skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar has a strong odor, which can be a deterrent. However, the smell dissipates very quickly.

It is always a good idea to dilute cider vinegar with water. Since Apple Cider Vinegar is a mild, natural product, the perfect ratio is not important. We recommend about 3 to 4 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar to 1 liter of water.

Itchy skin, mosquito bites, irritated skin, sunburn, aftershave

Soak a clean cloth in this mixture and apply the cloth to the affected area, repeating several times. Small areas of skin such as mosquito bites can also be dabbed with diluted apple cider vinegar. Be careful how well your skin tolerates the vinegar.

Impurities and Pimples

After cleansing the face, the Apple Cider Vinegar and water mixture can be applied to the face either directly or with a cloth or cotton pad.

Replacement deodorant

Apple Cider Vinegar has an antibacterial effect, so it can effectively fight the bacteria responsible for underarm odor. Wash your armpits as needed and dab with a cloth or cotton pad soaked in a mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and water.

Hair and Scalp

Whether it’s dandruff or an irritated, dry scalp, the pH-regulating effects of Apple Cider Vinegar can be very soothing to the scalp. The « acid rinse » also gives your hair a natural shine.

After washing, apply the mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and water to the scalp and hair. Then just let your hair dry and the smell will disappear.

If you’ve never used Apple Cider Vinegar before, or if you have any medical conditions or intolerances, we recommend that you consult a doctor before using it.
